James Brown, RIP

Sad news on the Christmas Day -- James Brown, the Godfather of soul, has passed away. All this week I had a compilation from the British music magazine, MOJO, called "James Brown's Funky Summer," in heavy rotation in the car. Basically the cd is a compilation of summer funk songs (including a new track from the Godfather himself) that reminded me of why I fell in love with funk in college. I am a big Parliament/Funkadelic (P-Funk) fan, but without James Brown there is no George Clinton, and with no George Clinton there is no P-Funk. Heaven just became super bad, and that's very good.
