Dumb Elites

Over at his Diary Blog, Tom has a pretty trenchant critique of Sports Illustrated's imbecilic marketing campaign and at least one article's bloviating elitism in The New Yorker. This dovetails nicely with some of my recent complaints about some snotty journalists not knowing that much about that which they write. Heads up, eastern elites: When you start alienating your natural constituency (I'm an eastern elite manquee, and Tom is from Ohio, which is a lot more eastern than it lets on) one has to wonder for whom you see yourselves writing.
