Clinton's Star Wattage
As Republicans run headlong from any association with President Bush, a number of smart Democrats, such as Deval Patrick in Massachusetts, are turning to the most talented politician of this (or any?) generation, Bill Clinton. Reading and hearing Clinton's words one cannot deny what an impressive speaker and mesmerizing force he can be. But Democrats should also never forget that had Al Gore embraced his President in a few select states in the weeks and days leading up to the 2004 election, and especially in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Florida, national politics and global relations would look a lot different, and I daresay, a lot better, today.
