Tonight the Red Sox and Yankees face off for the first of what will be a minimum of nineteen games, and could well end up being as many as 26 if they meet up in the ALCS and it goes seven. It's the greatest rivalry in sports now, it's the greatest rivalry in sports history. And this year the new twist is that Johnny Damon sold out and is now a Yankee.
Bob Ryan and
Dan Shaughnessy provide stories in the
Globe. If you will be in Fenway tonight, here is your guide to proper Damon Reception Etiquette: Introduction/First At-Bat: Wild applause -- he was and always will be one of the 25. Remind him what it means to be on our side. Thereafter: Boo him like he kicked your dog (He may well have). Let him know what it means to be on the other side.
Holmes and I have a side bet going on, a gallon of Vermont Maple Syrup up against a similar volume of Texas barbecue sauce. I get the former if the Sox have a better season (measured by how deep the team goes in the postseason or, if they go the same, which team finishes ahead of the other in the east) he the latter in the unlikely event that the Yanks do. Any other takers, let me know in the comments.
It. Is. On.

You'll use nothing, and you'll like it! there is nothing like Sox-Yanks. nothing. Last night's atmosphere was electric, and it was a May 1 baseball game.
Looks like they may not get tonight's game in.
