Obama's Acceptance Speech

I tend to think of myself as someone who has a capacity with words. Yet I am left dumbfounded.

That was my candidate. He gave almost inarguably the most substantial acceptance speech in American history.

That was my candidate. He gave almost inarguably the most concrete justification of why he is the apodictic representation of the American dream.

That was my candidate. He showed why our opponent is wrong without accepting that our opponent is bad.

That was my candidate. He showed why his calls for change are more than emtpy rhetoric.

That was my candidate. He showed why knowing things about the world should be a mark of honor, not a mark of shame.

That was my candidate. He showed why he will bring honor to the country I love, not shame.

That was my candidate. He showed why we can be better despite us having been worse.

That is my candidate. Because for too long liberalism has been cast as being wrong when for so long we have known it was right.

This is my candidate. Because he gave the greatest political speech of our generation.

This is my candidate. Because he is right and our opponents are wrong.

This is my candidate.

I too believe Obama would be the best president for USA. all you stated was true, as i watched it live, and i agree.
I am almost certain that USA pulling out of Iraq will be a success, but mainly, i want him to win, because i do not wish to see USA take up Russia's example of imposing a puppet leader, like McCain, like Medvedev of russia. The Russian even looks like a uppet, never ind he fact he is used as one.

incase you cant read the last line, it says,
' The Russian even looks like a puppet, never mind the fact he is used as one'. Now that is worthy of criticism, not not putting capitals in my own name ;).

I agree with all your comments about Mr. Obama. I was amazed by how many people came to the INVESCO (Mile High) Stadium. What a wonder! Did you see John Lewis speak? Oh my...this was truly what brought the stream of tears. All is all, I feel inspired about the next three months.

Tramaine --
It was everything you'd want in a speech. I'm thrilled by how this is playing out.

Danny --
We'll see how it all plays out. It will be interesting to see what role Russia plays in all of this.

i believe Russia will prefer Obama to McCain. It is obvious McCain is exactly the same as George Bush, and George Bush has made it clear many times he is willing to use military force against Russia.
Obama, on the other hand, i believe is a far more reserved man, as in he will concentrate on economic success of America, and success from within it's border's, rather than pushing it's influence overseas.
Obama being elected, i believe, will only make Russia, even more confident to start this, new 'cold war'. however, if this cold war does rear its head, the EU and US, will easily stamp down Putin's threat.

Danny --
I think your analysis makes sense. I wonder, though, if the opposite might also be true. Doesn't it seem as if Russia actually wants conflict? Wouldn't McCain better serve tjose interests?
I'm not saying you're wrong -- you may well be right. In fact another consideration for why they might want Obama might be a perception that he is weaker, that he won't act when they push the envelope. I think that is wrong, but it still might be what they are thinking.

I do not nesscesseraly belive Russia wants conflict, more that they want to prevent caucuss states entering NATO and EU. Russia wants greater power, to rival and surpass USA and EU.
All will become clear in January and Febuary of 2009.

You keep repeating the same line. That's not change; that's more of the same!

It's called epistrophe, my man, epistrophe! (Except at the beginning of phrases in my case. Which I'm sure also has a word for it, but I only know epistrophe, which would be the Obama version.)
