Blocked, Forbidden

I just got an email from DCAT himself. He told me to pass along this message:
"On a night when I hear from some of my colleagues here in Beijing that China
is really not that bad in terms of tyranny, I discover that my blog os
"blocked; forbidden." Could you let dcat's reader's know as much?"

Done.

Chinese blogs exist and the internet debates are fast and furious. Locals get around censorship by using proxy servers in other countries. There are alot of computer nerds here and they aren't going to let 30,000 internet police stop them!

I certainly have tried to convey that debate in China is far more vigorous and vibrant than anyone could ever imagine. But the very fact that you have to elude government censors and figure out proxy servers is hardly a ringing endorsement of freedom!
