Big Daddy Drew Channels Rick Reilly

This is just about pitch perfect. You have to know the target, but if you do it is spectacular.

The Oatmeal

You should occasionally go read The Oatmeal. It's funny.

Or maybe you already read it and I'm just behind the coolness curve. Either way, thanks to my friend Bill (my longest standing friendship -- we grew up down a very rural road from one another and have been friends since nursery school!) for giving me the heads up when I stayed at his place in Northern Virginia last week.

The Simpsons: Is There Any News They Don't Deliver?

Oh, Simpsons. Glorious, glorious Simpsons.

One of the true wonders of the show is the humor packed in largely for multiple viewers and more than likely for the writers themselves. Signs are absolute gems. But among the most brilliant of the humor comes in the headlines of The Springfield Shopper (and select other publications). Now 55 of the best of them have been compiled in a slideshow.

I just made your day a little (hell, a lot) better. You're welcome. Hat tip.

Apportioning Blame

Want to know who to blame for the NFL's player-owner conflict? This sums it up just about perfectly.

A Town, A Team, A Documentary

The Onion SportsDome (which you probably should be watching) might just be tweaking Odessa (Friday Night Lights : The Book, The Movie, The television show) "High School Football Documentaries a Way of Life In Small Texas Town."

Hump Day Humor

This is on my coffee cup, which I got from the famous Blackwell's Bookshop in Oxford, and it makes me laugh every time I read it:

OMG WWII

I tend to be late coming to most internet memes. So you've surely seen it, but I got a chuckle out of "OMG WWII on Facebook."

The Granite State v The Green Mountain State

You wanted it, you got it: The Definitive Guide to Telling New Hampshire and Vermont Apart. It's pretty much all true.

A small sample:

Simply put, Vermont is a little bitch. When you see the V in Vermont, think “vagina” and it will help you get a fair assessment of the state. New Hampshire, in contrast, displays a much tougher persona. As you might guess about the only New England state to host a NASCAR race, its residents are more likely to own guns and less likely to have college diplomas, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing when your neighbor is as fruity as Vermont.
That's about right.

Least Shocking Revelation Ever

Just read in this week's Entertainment Weekly (article not yet available online) an explanation as to why it is apt that the documentary drawing from Jackson's rehearsals for his planned tour will come out around Halloween:
"Halloween was Michael's favorite holiday."

Really?!? A holiday when young children just show up at the doorstep dressed in costumes was Michael Jackson's favorite holiday? I, for one, am shocked.

(Too soon?)

It's Funny Because It's Poo . . .

Australian officials are on the lookout for the perpetrators of a pretty crappy crime. Authorities have appealed for help in finding the perpetrators who "glued a man to a public toilet seat, forcing an embarrassing rescue by ambulance officers."

What a pain in the arse.

Hitler Is Literally Obama

Want to laugh? Go to Obama Is Literally Hitler. This mockery of some on the right, which increasingly is perfecting reductio ad Hitlerum, is just about pitch perfect. Yeah, Jonah Goldberg, this applies to you as well.

Meta (A Post on Possible Future Posts)

I'll have something to say this weekend, I hope, about both baseball's trade deadline and the recent news about Manny and Big Papi's positive steroids tests in 2003. But for now, how is this for being in some disturbing ways prescient?

Click here to see The 17 Least Appropriate Playmobil Sets For Children. My personal favorite has to be the cop arresting the bum on a bench, but there are lots of good options.

Apatow Time

For those of you who like Judd Apatow's ouvre (and those who don't, I do not like you any more) this Vulture interview will be as good a use of ten minutes as whatever else it is that you had planned. Well, Adam Sandler has one better idea for ten minutes, but you'll have to read the interview to know what that is.

Big Daddy Drew's Favre Issues

Suffice it to say, Big Daddy Drew is not happy (warning: his language makes me seem like a timid church mouse) at the prospect of Brett Favre joining his beloved Minnesota Vikings. Enjoy!
