And Now To Charlotte

I am heading to one of my old stomping grounds, Charlotte, for this year's Southern Historical Association annual meeting. If you're going to be there we'll inevitably cross paths in the book exhibit.

Book Talk (With Special Bonus Self Indulgence!)

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently had an exchange between Mark Bauerlein and Priscilla Wald, heavy hitters in the world of literary scholarship, about Harvard University Press' recently released A New Literary History of America, which has been garnering a great deal of attention of late. It makes for a fascinating engagement with what by all accounts seems like a major publishing event.

Speaking of major publishing events (shamelessness follows!) this weekend at the Southern Historical Association's annual meeting the University Press of Kentucky will be holding various book signings for some of its authors. I will be signing copies of Freedom's Main Line on Saturday at noonish in the book exhibit. If you are in the Kentuckianaohio area, swing by!

From the Alamo City to the Crescent City

Today I head to San Antonio to bring our little godson/nephew, who has been staying with us for the last ten days or so, back to San Antonio. Then it's off to New Orleans for the Southern Historical Association's annual meeting. If any of you will be in New Orleans, track me down. I'll be staying at the Marriott on Canal, right down the way from the Sheraton, and will inevitably be aimlessly wandering the book exhibit much of the time.

On the Road, Again

Your faithful and humble correspondent is bound for Richmond for the Southern Historical Association's annual shindig. I'll actually be making the commute between DC, where I'll be staying, and Richmond each day of the meeting. I'm sure I'll be able to be found most days wandering the book exhibit aimlessly, trying to appear as if I am not andering the book exhibit aimlessly. I'll post as possible, but things might be a little slow around here for the next few days.
