The New York Times has replaced the goddawful William Kristol, whose tenure as a columnist was mercifully truncated a while back,
with The Atlantic Monthly's Ross Douthat. This seems like a good call and is a serious upgrade in intellectual heft and ideological seriousness.
I might not agree with Ross Douhat on most issues, but I do find myself actually thinking about the ideas that he raises. That will make a welcome change from Kristol's spot!

ReplyDeleteNo doubt. Just getting rid of Kristol was a huge step up. He was simply awful.
