Captain Chiliboy Ralapelle

This weekend, in a South African trouncing of the World XV rugby side in Leicester, England, saw a historic first for the Springboks. 20-year old hooker Chiliboy Ralapelle became the first black captain for a Springbok senior side. Given the role that rugby always played in the tropes of Afrikanerdom and white supremacy, Ralapelle's donning of the captain's armband represents another sign that the bad old days really are behind South Africa.
